Job Description Currently seeking an ambitious individual for an Infrastructure Technician Apprentice role with the fantastic Hardware Group at their Swindon location. Ideally looking for somebody who thrives in a fast paced, growing and sometimes ambiguous environment where it's not just about getting things done- it's also about "how" you get things done and help others to do the same. Reporting into the Tech Op's Team Leader, you will be responsible for the test, configuration and refurbishment of network equipment, predominately Cisco routers, switches, supervisors, line cards, chassis, firewalls and CP phones requiring software upgrades/re-imaging, as well as server builds requiring component upgrades. Main duties/ Responsibilities: - Completing software upgrades for various vendors primarily Juniper and Cisco routers - Applying customer specific configuration files on behalf of Hardware Group customers using customer interfacing portals - Completing server builds that require upgrades, HDD, memory, CPU etc. - Carrying out low level testing /configuring based on customer specifications - Involvement in building the physical network, consisting of routers, switches, firewalls and providing remote access for our customers to fully integrate an old legacy network to the new solution - Troubleshooting faulty network equipment from our customers Qualities / essential requirements It is paramount that the candidate has the qualities and skills listed below: - Confident - Articulate - Willingness to learn - Good attention to detail - Ability to work on own initiative - Ability to work equally as part of a team - Willingness to take on responsibilities and further develop skills - Patient - Level headed and cool under pressure - Think on your feet - Motivated and driven - Like helping people - Great sense of humour Desired Qualifications The successful applicant will have 3 x GCSE (or equivalent) at grade A-C in any subject and GSCE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade D or above.
