JOB DESCRIPTION As an Automation Engineer, the primary focus of the role will be to develop scripts that will validate technical test cases of my clients services and programmes end to end (ETE). You will be the primary technical interface that will be automating complex test cases with the use of Application Programme Interfaces (APIs), changing Web Graphical User Interfaces (GUI), and communications equipment. Specific activities include developing automated scripts to execute a specific test case or user function; developing bulk scripts that will execute multiple iterations and calculate a success/failure rates; troubleshooting networking, IT systems, and SATCOM equipment to set up the test environment; developing automated validation functions as part of the Agile development process; and communicating status and activities to management. This role additionally involves continuously assessing and improving the test processes throughout a programme's development lifecycle. This position requires the ability to take ownership of a task and ability to work independently. Key responsibilities: - Develop, implement, and improve complex automated testing software to evaluate the performance of products and services - Design test cases, scenarios, and scripts and implement automated test that will support regression testing and new functionality testing targeting areas such as network and system performance, order fulfilment, network stability - Define criteria for testing, develop and implement new automation scripts and/ or modify existing automation scripts, and analyze test results. - Design and implement test strategies and effective test automation solutions. Establish and maintain physical, virtual and test automation labs for effective automation execution. - Understanding of real world applications and end user needs and requirements - Provide inputs to status calls - Collect and raise defects originating from a test campaign. Track status of defects and develop test cases for re-testing when fixed - Ability to diagnose cause and severity of problems and developing a path to problem resolution - Develop and generate a test report detailing the results of the test campaign and the criteria for acceptance to the next phase - Working within a team to ensure our products and services continue to meet customer expectations. Essential Knowledge and Skills: - Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Technology Diploma from a recognized institution or equivalent - Good experience in a Quality Assurance or Test Execution and Technical Support role - Proficient with Jenkins and GitHub - Experience in test tools such as JIRA, ALM, Zephyr - Broad technical background and experience with technologies such as: Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT); Cisco IOS; Internet Protocol (IP); Voice Over IP (VoIP), Networking (throughput, latency, jitter, etc); Windows OS; Linux OS; WebGUI development (Java, HTML, etc) - Proficient in SOAP UI, REST interfaces, JSON, WebSockets, HTTP/HTTPS, and other APIs - Self-organized and able to work unsupervised - Good Communication and people skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills and relationship management expertise - Ability to provide direction and effectively conduct knowledge transfer to staff and clients clearly and concisely - Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment; proven decision making skills - Capability to work well under pressure, in particular under cost and time constraints - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with critical deadlines - Good team working skills - Good spoken and written level of English Desirable Knowledge and Skills: - Familiar with the Agile process (CI/CD) - Experience of Enterprise Application Interface or Network Mediation Systems - Experience of mobile/telecommunications industry
