Title : Maritime Hardware Design EngineerLocation : Hampshire Salary £50k plus excellent benefits Contract - initially 3 months with view of an extension CommTech are proud to be working in partnership with a world class leader in Emerging Technologies & Maritime Systems After winning a number of prestigious tenders our client has an immediate contract opening within their Maritime Division The main purpose of the role is to will be the operational and system analysis and design of hardware components, equipment's and interfaces for maritime systemsKey Responsibilities - Requirements assessment and management, design of hardware components, equipment's and interfaces, technical impact assessment, design baseline synthesis and control - Development of test procedures and conduct hardware testing, fault finding and defect resolution - Generation of test reports, defect reports and analysis - Planning and control of own work and of any assigned engineering team - Conduct of operational analysis and performance of Concept and Assessment Phase design studies on behalf of internal/external customers - Conduct of internal and customer-funded research and development studies - Interaction with potential and actual customers, suppliers and team-mates - Input to subsystem specifications and interface requirement specifications - Presentation at internal and independent design/study reviews - Preparation and delivery of proposal material - Technical input to programme management and cost estimation teams - Technical risk assessment and reduction, including assessment of TPMs and TRLs - Will be required to support System Architects and Chief Engineers as required for general System Engineering tasks Short-Listing Criteria - The candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and work well in a team environment - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with extensive professional experience. - Considered an expert, authority in discipline. - Proven experience of Requirements analysis and design of hardware components, equipment's and interfaces for Maritime systems including for e.g. Radar, Navigation and Electronic Warfare systems - Proven experience of development of test procedures and conduct of hardware qualification testing - Previous Maritime Systems Engineering experience - Current knowledge of Defence and IMO standards Due to the nature of our clients business candidates must be a UK national with at least SC security clearance
