British American Tobacco is looking for a Lead Solution Architect based in our London office.

The purpose of this role is to contribute to the success of functional transformation programmes in the portfolio, which directly links with the IT strategy. The successful candidate should be able to work under pressure, across various projects and have strong leadership and stakeholder management skills underpinned by a broad, solid knowledge in business, functional and technology domains.

To ensure the ultimate business benefits and success of the programmes the project architects should be fully aligned with the core architects ensuring seamless exchange of knowledge and communication.

The lead project architect should also ensure that the architectural governance and processes are in place in the programmes and have a strong partnership with the Programme Managers and the Lead Cross-Functional Architect.


    Must source resource from internal pool or from strategic partners, orchestrating their use according to demand across the IT change landscapeMust quality assure the outputs of the Project Architects ensuring quality of outputs, and alignment to the strategy, visions and roadmaps produced by the Architects and to IT portfolio management targetsMust ensure the work delivered by the Project Architects is aligned to the visions, roadmaps and principles produced by the Architects and to IT portfolio management targetsMust provide governance through membership of The Architecture Board and as part of day to day activitiesMust manage a close relationship with the functional leadership team focusing on near term changeMust be fully informed on the IT change portfolios ensuring each change vehicle is primed to navigate Architecture Governance within project timelines.Must manage strong positive working relationships with strategic suppliers and partnersMust play a key role in governing the solution architecture and subsequent design through The Architecture BoardMust keep up to date with industry best practice for solutions architectures and evolve team practices accordingly.

Essential Skills:

    Experience in resource managementExperience in supplier managementExperience and strong skills in Solution Architectures and associated modelling techniques.Experience in CRM, Trade Execution, Supply Chain systems such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics both from an application and underlying infrastructure perspectiveAbility to model and understand current, transition and target state points of view at both a solution and above solution level of detailExperience in architecture governanceAbility to quality assure project/programme outputs from an overarching project/programme perspectiveConsulting skills to engage and communicate with stakeholders effectivelyCommercial skills (understand and consider financial implications of proposals)Business acumen and experience in CPG industry with a tobacco specialism.
