Six Degrees are delighted to be assisting a large practice in their search for a new Tax Manager to join their team in their carlisle offices.
Overall Purpose: “To deliver high quality client service by managing all aspects of clientsIncome tax, Corporation tax, VAT, Capital gains tax and Inheritance tax affairs together with keeping clients tax bills to a minimum”
Key Accountabilities•To deliver high quality customer service
•To give advice to clients on all aspects of tax compliance and tax planning
•To keep up-to-date with current tax legislation and tax practice
•To ensure continuing legislative compliance by applying current relevant legislation and HMRC practice to the practice.
•As a manager and member of the Senior Management Team, to support the Managing Director in achieving the annual Business Plan

Key Tasks•To be efficient in all aspects of taxation work, undertaking cost-effective services to clients
•Dealing with all aspects of clients’ income tax affairs including completion of tax returns and making a full review of the total tax position for the year.
•Completion of Income Tax Computations and capital allowance claims, including reviewing opening and closing years adjustments, continuation electrons and loss relief claims
•To carry out and review client files, and advise on all aspects of personal financial planning.
•To keep up to date with changes in relevant laws and regulations
•To meet all statutory deadlines
•To liaise with the HM Revenue & Customs on behalf of clients and colleagues
•To undertake tax calculations for pre-year end tax planning meetings
•Liaise with Managers/Directors when considering tax planning and in the completion of their tax returns and provide a tax estimate at the client meeting to discuss their accounts
•Assist in the preparation of a signing pack for each client meeting to reduce non-chargeable time.
•Deal with all correspondence
•Implement the the company Customer Care Programme
•To train, coach and advise colleagues on tax matters
•To organise and lead staff meetings
•To attend senior management team meetings
•To support the Managing Director and Operation Manager in the management and development of the staff
•Liaise with Practice Manager
•Consult with the MD weekly on Work Priorities
•Discuss with MD fee quotes for existing or new clients
•Discuss Preparation for Appraisals
•Help to improve Communication throughout the whole organisation
•Encourage everyone to be more involved in the development of the organisation – special focus groups
•Help to develop a Meeting and Reporting Structure to run the business effectively
