Senior Actuarial Reserving Analyst

Milton Keynes £49,000 - £54,500

NHBC has a unique opportunity available for a Senior Actuarial Reserving Analyst which is a new role in the NHBC Actuarial team.

NHBC is headquartered in Milton Keynes and also has a London Office in Minster Court. The majority of the key personnel this role holder will have contact with will be in Milton Keynes but we are prepared to explore flexible working arrangements between the two locations.

The Role Includes:

- Supporting the Reserving Actuary in the development and improvement of the Actuarial reserve assessment, analysis and reporting capabilities of NHBC

- Supporting the Reserving Actuary in the design, build, maintenance and production use of the NHBC Actuarial reserve assessment models and processes; which will include

- Quarterly S2 best estimate technical provisions and risk margin

- Analysis to support management selected Quarterly UK GAAP provisions (including scenario modelling)

- Projections of reserves

- Contribute to regulatory and statutory reporting concerning reserve related outputs

- Production of management information relevant to reserving

- Governance of the actuarial reserving process including data governance and documentation

- Planning of reserving work

- Support the Reserving Actuary with the communication and reporting of key reserve assessment outcomes and analysis

The Person we are looking for should have:

- Strong experience of Actuarial work related to Reserving gained in a general insurance company or consultancy and of Solvency II Technical provisions

- Knowledge of actuarial techniques, market practice, relevant legislation and insurance market environment, awareness of market developments

- Strong exam progress, close to qualification

- Collaborative attitude; self-starter; ability to work independently and drive project forwards; pro-active innovator and problem solver; organised and able to plan effectively

- Accurate and diligent with appropriate attention to detail

- Resilient and able to respond appropriately to challenge

- Problem-solving skills; desire to push the work forward from a technical perspective; desire to bring in new solutions to improve efficiency and adopt new ways of looking at tasks and process

- Strong verbal communication and documentation skills

- Act as a mentor to junior student actuaries

- University Degree (2:1 or above)
