Robert Half are currently working with a very well established legal firm based near Oldham, who are now looking to add an experienced Finance Manager into their team to be responsible for their Finance function. They are looking to pay up to £40,000 for the right person.

Overall Purpose of the Job

- To be responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts with commentary and year end accounts, including liaison with the external accountants.

- To prepare annual budgets and then report on actuals compared to budgets and advise on actions to be taken.

- To be responsible for monthly payroll calculations and submissions to HMRC.

- To be responsible for the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns.

- To prepare cash flow forecasts and business plans and report back on actual figures against forecasts.

- Lead and develop the finance team.

MAIN TASKS:


Responsibility for the day to day running of the finance department and overseeing all areas (sales, purchase, bank etc). Introduce changes in methods and working patterns where this will increase efficiency and effectiveness.Each month to work with the finance team to prepare balance sheet reconciliations and to complete the monthly management accounts plus a commentary for review by the Head of Finance.Manage the payroll process including the required payroll submissions to HMRC and dealing with all payroll related queries.Manage the quarterly VAT return preparation and submission to HMRC.To work with the finance team to complete all necessary reconciliations and to prepare the year end accounts. To liaise with the external accountants who produce the statutory accounts and respond to their queries.To prepare annual budgets and then report on actuals compared to budgets and advise on actions to be taken.To prepare cash flow forecasts and business plans and report back on actual figures against forecasts.

Review existing financial procedures and policies and revise or create new financial procedures and policies as required.Lead, develop and appraise the finance team, encouraging them to develop to their full potential.To assist in other financial matters as determined by the Head of Finance.

Accountabilities:


Monthly management accounts plus commentary to be prepared for review by the Head of Finance.Balance sheet codes to be reconciled monthly on Lawfusion. Reconciliations to be printed out and filed on management accounts file for review by Head of Finance.Payroll changes to be documented, filed and the payroll summary to be authorised by the Director.RTI submission to be made to HMRC by 27th of month and payslips (and P60s each April) distributed to all staff.VAT returns to be submitted by 7th of relevant month and VAT payments to arrive on/before that date.VAT returns to be reconciled to the nominal ledger and the reconciliation and all documentation to be printed out and filed on the VAT file for review by the Head of Finance.Year end accounts and all reconciliations to be prepared within 4 months of the year end for review by the Head of Finance before going to the external accountants.Annual budgets to be prepared and a report of actuals against budgets plus commentary to be prepared monthly.Cash flow forecasts, business plans and KPIs to be prepared and reported back on monthly.
