About the role

Working as a Solution Architect within UK IT you will be will be accountable for all technical platform evolution in your area, based on continuous technical improvements and through transformation demand from business growth and project and programme releases. .

As a Solution Architect you will be working closely with the IT and Technology teams, Product Vendors, Operations Teams, and fellow Architects to build and maintain system roadmaps that will drive Application and Infrastructure upgrades to drive out of box functional and non-functional improvements

You will be expected to have a deep understanding of all applications and infrastructure delivering capability in the domain; this will enable you to direct delivery partners in best practice design, configuration, and development. You will have accountability for high and low level designs for upstream solutions ensuring the adherence to Architecture Principles

Core Responsibilities
  • Design future roadmap for the retail and logistics; and ensure sure new projects and deliveries are aligned with the overall strategy and existing roadmaps
  • Participation in design reviews and assurance activities throughout the Development lifecycle, ensuring compliance to Domain systems capability, domain roadmaps, and technical target architecture throughout the development life cycle.
  • Close Co-operation with the Business to understand and help them build their strategic vision, and to align it with the technical roadmap. Close co-operation with IT and Technology Architecture & Design community across Vodafone.
  • Challenge up stream requirements and design activity to ensure a fair compromise of functional and non-functional requirements are being considered in releases
  • Maintain system platform measures ensuring they will continue to meets business SLA’s, performance goals, and that the technical direction is consistent with strategy, principles, and design patterns.
  • Being a Technical Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and functional and technical expert for the application portfolio within the domain.
  • Use experience to provide estimates of cost and timescales for projects under early consideration.
  • Supporting the Domain lead in assuring and challenging supplier technical scope and pricing; keeping on top of the use of model estimation tools as agreed with Supply Chain Management.
  • Contribute to and understand the Wider IT Strategy. Qualifications/Experience Desired
  • Proven experience as an IT Solution Architect
  • Strong experience and proven ability in delivering Technical Systems Roadmaps.
  • Excellent Architecture, Design, Development and Delivery Technical Lead skills, ideally in Telecoms
  • Good understanding of how technical solution will impact the business
  • Understanding of Retail, Logistics and Supply Chain applications would be highly beneficial
  • Excellent Stakeholder Management skills – ability to influence and drive change
  • Extensive experience of working closely with IT and Technical teams to help drive delivery against strategic technical roadmaps.
  • Clear Logical Thinker and problem solver, able to think outside the box.
