LOCATION: Northwood, Middlesex

JOB TITLE: Design and Technology Technician

SALARY & BENEFITS: £17,933 to £21,713 per annum based on contracted hours (dependent on qualifications, skills and relevant experience)

WORKING HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4 pm (35 hours per week)
Term time (35 weeks plus 5 additional weeks worked across the School year)

THE COMPANY: Our client is a large Independent Boys’ School, situated in 286 acres of parkland in Northwood, Middlesex. They have an exciting opportunity available for a Design and Technology Technician to join their team.

THE ROLE: As a Design and Technology Technician, you will be a member of the non-teaching staff, the Technician’s day to day activities will be set and supervised by the Head of Department.

Key Responsibilities/duties of a Design and Technology Technician to include:-

Support to Teaching Staff – prepare workshops and assist with technical assistance
Resource Management – refer electrical and mechanical breakdowns to the relevant department
Assist with department exhibitions
Workshop management
Stock control
Adhere to health and safety and ensure a clean, safe and tidy environment is maintained

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will be a good team player with excellent communication skills. You will need to live within a commutable distance to Northwood.

Key experience essential for the role of Design and Technology Technician:-

Experience in working in a design or practical engineering environment would be beneficial
GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
Relevant qualification in a practical area would be desirable
Experience of working in a school environment is advantageous
IT literate
Experience with CAD and CAM is desirable
