Located in the heart of Cheshire, my client is a well-established and renowned legal firm, with over 100 years’ experience. Working within many fields, of which conveyancing (commercial and residential) family, commercial law and employment law represent a small collection my client has a number of offices around the Cheshire region, as well as further afield.

The Legal Secretary job

Due to an ever increasing workload my client is seeking a legal secretary to join their team at their office located in Northwich. This position will be to work directly alongside a senior partners, assisting the existing team with legal secretary duties.

You will be working within the conveyancing department and you will have experience of working with a conveyancing department. You will have experience of working within a conveyancing department however our client is flexible in relation to whether this is residential or commercial experience.

Key duties will include, but not be limited to;

·Attending on Clients and taking instructions;

·Dealing with correspondence;

·Audio typing


·Preparing Contracts, Searches, Transfers, Stamp Duty Forms and Registrations

·Communicating with Clients, Agents etc.

·Assisting with administration of files

·Ensuring CQS compliance when working on files

·Maintain fee-earners diaries

·Any ad-hoc duties as required

My client uses a claims management system and training will be provided on this specific software however you will have experience of working with a claims management system recently. On occasion you will be required to work on files without the use of a CMS system and therefore you will be expected to be able to maintain accurate and complete files.

Key Skills

Given the nature of my client’s business you will have an exceptional understanding of confidentiality and relevant data protection policies and legislation. You will be able to communicate effectively in all forms with senior partners, clients and other firms. You will have excellent attention to detail and will be able to type quickly and accurately and proof-read to a high level. You will have experience of working in a similar field and will have recent experience of working within a conveyancing department.

You must be a confident user of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
