You will need to be confident in delivering the curriculum, professional, hard working and have a genuine passion for teaching English. You will be committed to engaging all learners across the key stages in your chosen subject - English
About the Role
You will be joining the school's thriving English department and joining a team of enthusiastic teachers that will help and guide you through this most important year as you gain qualified teacher status. You will have a strong knowledge of the English language and Literature curriculum and a genuine passion for passing on your knowledge. You will be expected to teach English to Key Stage 3 & 4 where there is an option to teach KS5 too. As you settle in to the role you will have the opportunity to progress by taking advantage of the school's excellent CPD programme and extra curricular activities.
About the school
This is an 11-18 age range mixed community comprehensive including a resource base for students with moderate learning difficulties. It is situated in a socially diverse catchment in the heart of East London with 2 train stations nearby. There are extensive playing fields, a Drama theatre and Dance studio. The school has initiated and managed a number of funded extended school programmes within the local community.
Currently the school has just over 1000 pupils making it a bigger than average secondary school. Included in this number are around 150 pupils in their sixth form college.
The school works closely with its partner primary schools with which there are strong, extensive collaborative ties. Formal collaborative links also exist at 14-19, where the school supports city-wide curricular initiatives, such as the Diplomas, as well as working in partnership with other providers to offer work related learning options.
Many Post-16 students continue their studies into Further Education. A wide range of courses are available, leading to certification at A level, BTEC Level 2 and Level 3. The school works in collaboration with two other local high schools and work-related providers to offer a wide choice of post-16 options.
