REESON Education is looking for a Sociology teacher from the October half-term to cover a maternity. The department caters exclusively for students studying A level Sociology. This post is being advertised because a member of the department is going on maternity leave at the October half term. The department will consist of two experienced part-time teachers, one who will be taking on the role of head of department after the October half term. The department currently shares an office with other Social Science subjects and at present has priority use of one teaching room which has a smartboard, data projector, visualiser and internet access.

At present, students follow the AQA specification. Classes are taught in sets of around twenty plus students, supplemented by a timetabled tutorial period.

Results in recent years have been excellent, significantly above the national average. In 2017, the A2 pass rate in Sociology was 100% with 63% gaining grades A*-B. At AS, the pass rate was 100% with 78% at A-B. This year, we are no longer entering students for the AS examination.
