Head of FP&A / Private Equity Backed / Technology / Manchester city centre

My client is a Private Equity backed technology business based in central Manchester. They have a high-quality, cutting edge product offering, operating at the forefront of their sector as well as an impressive, comprehensive client base.

Due to their ongoing growth and a real desire to grow and develop the business with the backing of their PE House, a newly created role has arisen for a Head of Financial Planning and Analysis.

Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will operate as a true, commercial right hand and will be tasked with creating, growing and developing a high calibre analytical team over time.

As this is a newly created role, applicants must be prepared to take on a ‘hands on’ role from day one as you will be tasked with building the team from the ground up, taking personal ownership for all Financial Planning & Analysis matters. We are looking for a candidate of the highest calibre, possessing true gravitas as well as the sense of urgency to ensure tasks are completed quickly and effectively.

Responsibility will include:
  • Work closely with the senior management team in delivering meaningful insight, driving the commercial decision making process through sound analytics and high quality MI in order to achieve greater visibility and insight on the customer base, the product offering, profitability, margin as well as pricing and competitor analysis.
  • Liaise with Group functions to align capex investment decisions significant operating expense decision making.
  • Creation, monitoring and ongoing development of pricing models in order to drive a clear and effective pricing strategy
  • Managing complex relationships across Finance and Functional Operations to deliver cost synergies and/or margin growth.
  • Preparation, leadership and ownership of the budgeting and forecasting cycle
  • Development and improvement of MI for finance and operational managers
  • Exposure to and involvement with any ongoing M&A work
  • Identify, write and present investment cases in tandem with the business functions
  • Carry out post investment reviews and profitability analysis, feed learnings into future decision making processes
  • Work alongside core finance team to understand how actual business performance translates into business decision making
  • Support the CFO in driving business deliverables and the wider growth strategy across the business.
  • Ad Hoc project work as required by the CFO / Board
Candidates will ideally already possess Private Equity experience and be of a robust character, able to handle senior internal and external stakeholders with real gravitas and a willingness to stand up be counted, having difficult conversations where necessary.

In return the CFO will invest significant time and effort into mentoring and developing the successful applicant with a view to creating a future CFO.
