We are currently searching for an experienced School Bursar / School Business Manager to support the Executive Headmaster and project manage the exiting new school build. The Bursar is the administrative leader of a new school and will be responsible for the management of the project during the set up phase and also be the central point of contact for all key stakeholders. After the school opens, the Bursar will be responsible for all non-academic operations of the school.

General Responsibilities

Creates and executes project master plan and revises the plan as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. The project master plan covers all aspects of the project, including:

  • Campus design and construction
  • Market research
  • Financial planning
  • Legal and license application
  • Government relations
  • Marketing and admissions
  • Organization planning and hiring
  • Purchasing and vendor management

  • Review deliverables on a weekly basis to ensure all aspects of the project are executed according to the plan.
  • Compile monthly project progress report. Keep all project team well informed of progresses, challenges and support required.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and people on the project, with attention to maintaining high levels of health, safety and security
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
Key Responsibilities

  • Finance- Manage the school expenditure, revenue accounts and capital budgets in accordance with the financial regulations, regularly reporting on the school’s financial health to the Board and Headmaster, and using financial management systems to suggest ways of effecting budget efficiency
  • Site, Health & Safety and Risk Assessment/Hazard identification- Responsible for the maintenance and safe operations of the school site and the buildings; monitor the Security, Cleaning and Catering contracts for the school to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and value for money; and use risk assessment tools to establish hazards
  • HR- Provide leadership and direct line management for supporting staff; ensure new staff have Police Checks, medical clearance and satisfactory references; support the administration of recruitment processes for all staff and relocation of expat staff; is responsible for the systems and general management of the school’s administrative and financial computer network, including the implementation of appropriate management information systems


Bachelor’s degree or above with Major in Business Administration


Fluent English speaker

(Desirable) Fluent in Chinese language


Minimum of 10 years’ working experience in the field of business

Management experience of 15+ years in operations and at least 7 years of people management experience

Being part of the founding team of a school and leading a school through a successful inspection

Team management, finance experience, HR experience, facilities management and compliance, working with regulatory bodies, strategic planning and business development, experience with IT networks and logistics.
