A unique opportunity for a Tax Accountant based in Portsmouth on a full-time, permanent basis (part-time hours will be considered).

One of the South Coast's leading specialist Housing Associations, based in Hampshire.



Description



The Tax Accountant will be responsible for making sure my client stays compliant with all taxation legislation and reporting, helping us to plan and structure our activities in the most tax-efficient way.



Your key responsibilities:

Evaluating legal/group structures and contractual arrangements, giving advice on the tax implications and taking professional advice when required


Ensuring all HMRC registrations are kept up to date so that statutory returns are completed within deadlines, and all regulatory deadlines are met. Being the first point of contact for any contact with HMRC, including audits and inspections


Coordinating year-end corporation tax computations, accounting entries and disclosures


Educating the business on understanding tax implications of all our activities and the reliefs available


Continually reviewing our partial exemption method and looking for ways to improve VAT recovery


Maintaining meticulous records of tax registrations, returns and correspondence with HMRC to ensure we have full financial records and correspondence electronically


Ensuring that all returns, payments and journal entries are processed in accordance with our financial regulations with appropriate review and sign-off




Profile



Skills/experience:

Demonstrable working knowledge of VAT, corporation tax and SDLT


CCAB or equivalent professional qualification, CTA or ATT (or equivalent tax qualification) is strongly desired but not essential


Experience of tax planning within a construction environment would be beneficial to this post


Experience of delivering organisation-wide projects


  • Ability to write and present reports, dealing with complex tax issues and conveying this information in a user-friendly manner


Strong communication skills, both written and verbally, pitched at various levels


Works well under extreme pressure to tight deadlines


Advanced at data handling, numeracy and analytical skills

Job Offer

A rewarding salary of up to £47,000 per annum pro rata, depending on experience


25 days' holiday per year pro rata (plus bank holidays)
