Your new school
Hays Education are currently working in partnership with a number of schools situated in Brighton, West Sussex to recruit higher level teaching assistants. You will assist pupils in class to improve their literacy and numeracy skills and working alongside the class teacher in delivering activities that are age appropriate and engaging, and may be asked to provide intervention sessions with small groups and individually with pupils on a one to one basis.
Your new role
This Higher Level teaching assistant role involves advancing pupil's learning in a range of classroom settings, including 121, groups and the whole class when the teacher is absent.
You must be familiar with school curriculum and age-related expectations of pupils, examination frameworks and teaching methods. You will strive to maintain a safe and secure environment for the children to learn and assist the teacher in welcoming and greeting the children.
You will receive a competitive salary dependant on experience and assignment.
What you'll need to succeed
As a Higher level teaching assistant, you will need to have a proven track record in a HLTA role with a HLTA accreditation and a genuine passion to ensure each pupil strives to reach their full potential. Experience of independently delivering lessons to groups of pupils in the absence of a class teacher. Excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum, be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child development, appropriate levels of childcare including experience of working with pupils with lower ability to raise pupils learning levels. Confident and positive approach to behaviour management and ability to plan, organise and use own initiative.
