To work within a small team to deliver engineering designs and drawings for rapidly developing products and systems associated with agricultural vehicles and crop application attachments. To work with Solidworks CAD to produce detailed drawings for manufacture and various other software to produce appropriate documentation.


1.To design and verify technical designs for all aspects of self-propelled, and on & off road agricultural vehicles and attachments.

2.To prepare drawings from Solidworks models ready for manufacture.

3.To prepare designs for vehicle systems such as electrical, hydraulic, transmissions and suspensions.

4.To prepare parts drawings, assembly instructions and documentation where necessary.

5.To specify components for the purpose of procurement. Liaising closely with Procurement.

6.To liaise with specialist consultants e.g. Design consultants and suppliers.

7.To ensure that products are developed to achieve compliance with design objectives and the latest and expected legislation.

8.Hands-on approach to supporting the manufacture and assembly of prototype machines. Providing necessary training.

9.Resolving manufacturing issues in the early stages of product design and development.

10.To liaise as necessary with all the relevant internal company departments.

11.Assists in field testing new products and evaluating performance for approval or problem resolution.

12.Provides all pertinent information and data for technical manuals

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1.University/College based technical qualifications in Mechanical Engineering and/or related subject or time served experience. Knowledge of and some hands-on experience with agricultural machinery and/or vehicles preferred

2.Good eye for detail and knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials to ensure accurate drawings and appropriate designs for economical manufacture.

3.Knowledge in mechanics/materials/hydraulics/stress analysis will be of particular interest.

4.Proficient in the use and understanding of Solidworks with good computing skills in general.

5.Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure to generate schemes and designs quickly.

6.Proven experience of developing products in a relevant environment.

7.Ability to develop designs within constantly evolving vehicle and crop technology.

8.Ability to explain and present technical information to the senior management team. Providing updates on project(s) weekly/monthly

9.A conscientious attitude towards work and the ability to work with a minimum of supervision.

10.High levels of drive and tenacity to achieve development and project timings.
