I have a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant, privately owned Scottish business based in Central Scotland. The company are market leaders in the manufacture and supply of wearable electronic equipment, with well-established customer service teams. The company also partner major OEMs in this field. The business is looking for a Hardware Design Engineer to join their engineering team to contribute towards the company's vision of becoming a world leader in their space. This position affords an exciting opportunity to assist in the development of wearable electronic products and accessories through a complete product creation process from initial prototype to manufactured product. The role will work closely with Software, Firmware, Mechanical and Product Engineers and alongside other Hardware Engineers within the Design team to develop innovative and creative solutions that are technically feasible. Role Responsibilities include: - Design of digital, analogue and power supply circuits - Design of handheld, body worn, battery powered systems - Design using EDA tools for schematic capture and PCB layout - Electronic hardware debugging, validation and optimisation, design of test boards - Opportunity to gain exposure to RF design using wireless modules/chipset (WLAN, Bluetooth etc.) - Opportunity to work on switch mode power supplies including isolated converter topologies - Design of Li-Ion battery powered systems and charging circuits including wireless charging - Assist in project task identification and duration estimation - Manage project tasks against a planned schedule - Report task effort and progress - Provide support for procurement and production issues Education/Experience: - Qualified to Degree level in Electronic Engineering - Considerable experience in Hardware Design of digital and analogue circuits - Experienced with PCB layout design - Hands on design, debug and testing experience Desirable Experience: - Experience with Verilog/ VHDL/FPGA development would be advantageous - Knowledge of DSP and video I/O interfaces (DVI, HDMI, video composite etc.) would be advantageous Knowledge of Embedded Software development would also be advantageous - Experience with LTspice or PSpice for circuit design simulation would be advantageous
