Cordius IT Recruitment is working with an international client to help expand its technical team and bring on a passionate and talented Database Administrator, someone with a passion for tech and who enjoys working with and mentoring intelligent, bright and motivated individuals in a collaborative environment. Utilising a variety of database technologies across their various products and services, this DBA position is responsible for managing both data and databases across physical and virtual server infrastructure. Currently in use are MySQL, ElasticSearch, Cassandra, HPCC and PostgreSQL. They are also taking steps towards using managed database services in AWS where they meet their needs. You will have the opportunity to become expert with some or all of these technologies, as you design, build, automate and support systems, in collaboration with Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering and Architecture teams. They work in the DevOps model, with multi-skilled teams of people being assembled to collaborate on a project from concept to delivery. Once familiar with systems and processes, you will be working in such teams to deliver new products or service platforms. Key Skills and Experience: - Percona Server - Galera Clustering - MySQL Replication - Linux server administration - Python and Bash scripting - AWS - Cassandra - Elasticsearch Typical background: - High volume transactional database systems - Large data sets - MySQL certification advantageous - Linux system administration highly beneficial Key Responsibilities and Tasks: - The confidentiality, availability and integrity of data across multiple systems and environments - The proper configuration of databases across multiple systems and environments - The timely resolution of any issues affecting the systems - Designing, deploying, managing, and operating scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant database systems - Manage confidentiality of company and customer data, in line with company policies and procedures - System monitoring and remediation in line with customer SLAs - Develop, maintain and document installation, configuration and maintenance procedures - Carry out regular system maintenance, patching and backups - Ensuring that best practices are applied as far as practically possible Who you are: - Passionate about all things data related - Excellent problem solving and logical reasoning skills - Meticulous about the systems that you are responsible for - Excellent communication skills, and be confident in explaining complex concepts to others - Highly organised self-starter, who is willing and able to learn quickly - You will be able to effectively manage multiple simultaneous work stream - Have a 'can do' attitude, and a strong teamwork ethic - Willing to question the status quo when necessary Salary: Up to £50,000 + Benefits Location: Nottingham City Centre Would you like to know more? ...
