Harris Global are currently recruiting for a 2nd Line Support Engineer Based in Newcastle, your primary task is to undertake manual remediation on workstations ensuring these are fully patched at both an application and operating system level. This may involve troubleshooting issues to prevent occurrences in the future.


  • You will work alongside the team of 2nd Line Support engineers to help ensure our workstations are available & fully maintained during our core business hours and where necessary, provide 2nd Line Support to our UK & Ireland user base
  • Additionally, you will be expected to conduct reviews/true-ups of current application installations to confirm that these are within licence agreements.
  • You will also on occasion be required to assist in the provision of hardware & software support to the groups’ offices through remote access software or by travelling to site, liaising with 3rd party suppliers/vendors when necessary. Additionally, helping with desk moves in existing offices or relocation to new premises.
  • You will endeavour to fix technical problems that arise which are logged through the Infra Support System. You may also have to deal with some verbal and email requests for assistance as well.
Principal Activities:

  • Primarily you will be expected to ensure all workstations meet the minimum accepted patched level through manual remediation.
  • This will be conducted either on-site meaning travel may be required or using remote working support tools.
  • It will also be necessary to assist with application licensing true-ups and audits, ensuring the organisation is within the agreed limits.
  • Where necessary, work as part of a larger team to provide 2nd line support to UK & Ireland offices
  • Experience:

    At least 2 years’ experience in a 1st/2nd Line Support role

    Experience of working in the Financial Services Industry desirable


  • Good knowledge of Windows Operating Systems & Office Productivity Applications
  • Good understanding of Operating system/application lifecycle & patching processes
  • Experience using image & software deployment tools (SCCM, WSUS, Patch Manager)
  • Strong troubleshooting & organisation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
