Desktop Support Engineer - Canary Wharf - £26K pa Our client has a current requirement for an experienced desktop support engineer to join their infrastructure team on a permanent basis. This role is heavily focused on customer interaction and good soft skills are a must! The general duties and responsibilities as the desktop support engineer will include the following but not limited to: - To manage incidents as assigned to you by the Incident Management System (Remedy/Unity) through to resolution through the use of correct systems and management escalation paths where applicable - Ensure that the Incident Management System is updated with all activities undertaken by you with corrective actions taken, or scheduled with the client. - Will be the first point of contact for escalations by users and be the first line resolver of any issues - Will be required in some cases to work outside core hours on supporting events/fault resolution / System upgrades - To assume the role of Company ambassador providing the highest levels of customer service - Accurately implement and work in line with Company policies and procedures - Maintain professional standards of quality of work, personal presentation and personal conduct in relation to yourself and your team - Maintain an accurate diary, utilising communications equipment and remain as accessible as possible throughout the working day - Ensure all administrative returns are made on a strict and regular basis - Take good care of all Company supplied tools and equipment - Ability to work on own initiative, address and resolve problems in a pressurised environment - Ability to diagnose faults in the hardware/software/operating systems used by the customer - Excellent organisational skills, able to take a methodical approach to service issues - Contributes to, supports and works within the team - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills To be considered for the desktop support engineer role, candidates must demonstrate the following: - Ability to assess, interpret and apply known skills to a range of site-based problems that may arise - A good understanding of operating systems and networking. - A good understanding of Microsoft products including Office and Windows 7/8 - Utilisation of your knowledge and expertise in attending customer sites to provide an effective, highly professional solution to reported problems, including the proficient diagnosis and repair of equipment - Provision of effective, highly professional installation services, including site surveys, audits, de-installations, moves and preventative maintenance work, within the required timescales. - Ability to carry out workshop repairs on products supported by the Company, if and where appropriate PREFERRED ACCREDITATIONS - A software technical qualifications, i.e. MCP, MCSE - Manufacturer accreditations Person skills - Excellent Communication - Ability to work in high-pressure environments - Previous experience with VIP's - Excellent Customer Service Skills - Dedicated This is an excellent company to work for, interviews will be held ASAP.....
