Application Support Engineer

Our client, a leading Financial Services Firm, are looking to hire a Application Support Engineer.


Prepaid Management Services is the division of the buisness that concentrates on Prepaid Solutions such as our Multi-Currency CashPassport product. Traditionally focused on the Travel sector this business unit is driving forward Prepaid throughout the world with innovative and leading solutions that we integrate with Global brands. This role is within the Global Technology Services (GTS) team which is part of the wider Operations & Technologies group. We provide high quality evolutionary and operational capabilities to support the Prepaid Management Services business.

* The purpose of the role is to provide 2nd & 3rd line support for mission critical business applications

* The Application Support Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the availability of critical business applications and databases infrastructure.

* You will have an operational mind set, experience of supporting complex IT Systems and a strong knowledge of Databases.

* How often have you taken the lead when participating in the running of the Major 'P1' incident to achieve a successful outcome / restoration of service?

* Resolve incidents and service requests promptly and accurate updating tickets to 'close' them within agreed SLA and time scales.

* Conduct 'Root Cause Analysis' of major faults, documenting activities and any recommendations for operational or resolution process improvements in line with the Problem Management processes

* Take an active role in Major P1 'TRT' incident processes - involving International teams and possibly 3rd party vendors

* Responsible for performing/completing daily tasks to ensure application stability and customer satisfaction

All About You

* Essential experience working in an application support environment supporting financial applications/Databases, troubleshooting and analyzing software issues

* Use of languages and Frameworks - J2EE, Java, or .Net,

* Expert knowledge in building PL/SQL queries to help in support activities

* Knowledge of application Servers: JBoss, Weblogic, IIS

* Understanding of Intergration Technologies SOAP/REST based Webservices, SFTP, Connect:Direct

* Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services in a financial organization would be good

* Knowledge or any ITIL v3 Qualification would be advantageous
