Shift Pattern: 6am - 2pm, 2pm - 10pm, 10pm - 6am, 5 days out of 7
Contract Type: Permanent (Full Time)

As a Planning and Systems First Line Manager you will be responsible in the planning, coordinating, supervising and reporting upon the work activities of a team; providing effective communication, leadership, motivation, training & development. Cost reductions and effective team planning to be in place at all times. Please note that this role is only dealing with Transport for 20% of the time and is predominantly systems based.

Key Responsibilities in this role will include;
Management of scheduling and planning of loads, ensuring vehicle utilisation is maximised and service levels met.
Team Management.
Plan, manage and adjust staffing levels to meet operational requirements.
Direct the daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for team members.
Deliver team member performance reviews, development and/or succession planning as appropriate.
Facilitate effective communication and relationships both inter shift and other departmental functions.
Reduce costs by effective management of hours and work at all times.
Manage all disciplinary and grievance issues (complaints) in line with HR policy.
Ensure compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
Ensure company policies are communicated, applied and enforced.
Work in collaboration with other DHL sites to maximise efficiencies and best practice.
Organise and lead the focus on improved productivity levels using coaching and mentoring skills ensuring individuals are aware of their responsibilities and fulfil them.
Preparation of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
Brief the team at the beginning of each shift, to ensure that all operatives are fully communicated with about the work patterns for the day.
Ensure that the Company's health and safety policies are adhered to and that all operational legislative requirements are fulfilled at all times.
Be responsible for managing productivity and absence of warehouse operatives, including implementing the disciplinary procedure as required.
Ensure senior management are kept informed of all operational issues, in particular those that may lead to service disruption or non-delivery.
Contribute to site continuous improvement agenda.
To understand the contents and expectations of our Quality Management System and to ensure that all requirements are adhered to.

Key skills and experience in this role will include:
Excellent knowledge of Red Prairie
Computer literate
Excellent knowledge of Excel
Experience of team management
Good analytical and numerical skills
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation and planning skills
Excellent communicator (verbal & written)
Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements

Knowledge of working time legislation
