Senior Network Engineer Ref: SAL00007C Location: Wiltshire [South] Duration: 3-6 Months [initially] EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: Sopra Steria is currently recruiting for a Senior Network Engineer to join a large team and will be tasked with ensuring the SLA's are met on a daily basis and to industry standard best practices. The candidate will be expected to have responsibility for performing Network Operational duties, including reporting, troubleshooting, configuration and capacity management of network equipment employed across all of the clients networks. The candidate will also be responsible for liaising with third parties and must have the skill and knowledge to provide Root Cause Analysis as part of the clients fault resolution process. This is an excellent medium term assignment that will be working with one of Sopra Steria's important Defence Sector clients. On client's instructions, due to the urgency, nature and length of the assignment, the successful candidate must have current security clearance to a high level. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Configuration of Network Layer 2/3 devices on all networks. - Understanding of Unified Communication and VoIP technologies - Produce reports for Management as requested incl. Bandwidth performance, Base lining, capacity management and Incident Management. - Responsible for ensuring the Major Incident Management Process is followed for network outages. - Provide 2nd line support to the Service Desk for network fault progression (Major faults and performance issues). - Monitor LAN/WAN - Service availability and efficiency. - Maintain monitoring platforms - maintain security patches and test to ensure reporting is correct. - Respond to incidents and work orders raised on the Service Management tool. - Produce and maintain network documentation. - Understand and comply with team procedures. ESSENTIAL SKILLS - CCNP or extensive experience and exposure as a Senior Engineer within a Cisco networking environment. - Technical experience and recent exposure to be able to configure and troubleshoot EIGRP and BGP Routing Protocols (including the use of GRE tunnelling and Virtual Router Forwarding). - Technical experience and recent exposure to be able to configure and troubleshoot the clients Network Tooling - i.e. CISCO PRIME Infrastructure/Opsview/Netflow. - Technical experience and ability to troubleshoot the clients Network with the aid of applications such as Wireshark. DESIRABLE SKILLS - Good communication skills. - Good report writing skills. - Able to write and review technical documents. - Able to work as part of a team. - Technical experience and recent exposure to be able to configure and troubleshoot Cisco Nexus (NX-OS) and Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) devices. - Experience of VMWARE to allow interaction and integration within a virtual based infrastructure environment. - Knowledge of Python Scripting.
