Special Needs Teaching Assistant Job - Cardiff
Full time, Long term SEN Teaching Assistant role in Cardiff - starting immediately
This exceptional school in Cardiff caters for 3 -11 year olds who have Special Educational Needs. There are 15 classes within the school for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Alongside children with ASD, there are children with SPLD and children with mobility impairments. The curriculum at the school is tailored to suit each childs individual needs with the school highlighting the need to treat each child as an individual.
Your New Role
The school are now looking for an experienced and confident Teaching Assistant to support the teaching and learning within the classroom. You will be working within a class of 7 - 10 children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and will be responsible for ensuring that the pupils feel supported and encouraged. You will feedback to the class teacher on the pupil progress and you may also be required to liaise with parents and outside bodies, and to assist in the development of learning plans.
This role is to start asap for the right person.
You will need:
A strong understanding and experience of working with children with ASD
Experience of supporting pupils within a classroom environment
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to guide pupil behaviour
Excellent communication skills -this is important for building rapport with pupils, parents and staff members
A strong desire to enhance pupil development
