DevOps Manager: Birmingham City Centre: Competitive Salary & Package Broster Buchanan are delighted to be working on a retained search for a global business that are developing a centre of excellence for DevOps and Quality Assurance for a number of their flagship products to be based in Birmingham City Centre. The first role to 'on board' will be the DevOps Manager. This will be a crucial role in the success of this new centre of excellence, reporting into the Head of Global Technology you will take ownership of defining and executing the DevOps practice providing services within cross function product teams. You will need to have a solid understanding of AWS to assist management with strategizing/designing/brainstorming the architecture of the AWS platform As DevOps Manager you will be responsible for: - Building a successful practice - Implementing best practices // Identifying Gaps - Managing the delivery pipeline In the role of DevOps Manager one of your first tasks will be to recruit a small team of DevOps Engineers to be based out of the Birmingham office. You will also have resource from teams based in London, New York and off-shore partners and you will be expected to visit the London Office at least once a month and the New York Office once a quarter to ensure you are building strong relationship with relevant teams within the organisation. To succeed in this DevOps Manager role you will need to have: - An ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment - Ability to take existing manual processes and to automate them from end to end including build/deploy on the infrastructure side (cloud focused), backup, monitoring, and assistance to the development teams to automate the application deployment - A demonstrated ability to meet commitments in a large IT project environment including an ability to routinely review and maintain SOP (Standard Operational Procedures) documentation - An ability to coordinate automation release strategies with Product Managers, Project Managers, QA Leads, Development leads - You are highly motivated, self-directed, and performance driven - Availability to work during the regular business workday, Monday - Friday 9am -6pm EDT, as well as evenings and weekends on occasion - Excellent verbal and written communications skills to collaborate effectively with consultants, stakeholders/customers (from Developers to Managing Directors), peers, and vendors - Effectiveness in conducting multiple activities under pressure as well as strong customer service and teamwork skills - Process/Methodology:Lean Engineering, Agile, DevOps Demonstrate familiarity with some of the following toolsets: - Hosting: AWS, RackSpace, Azure - Monitoring: Alert Site, Cloud Watch, DataDog, Pingdom, Splunk - Continuous Delivery: Go CD, CodeShip, Bamboo, Elastic Beanstalk. - Data: SQL Database, Mongo DB, RDS, Graph, - Languages/CMS: Node.JS, PowerShell, JavaScript, Java, PHP, Python / Drupal 6.0 - Vagrant, Capistrano, Github, Docker, Cloud Formation templates Salary: Competitive Location: Birmingham City Centre
