TechOps/DevOps Team Lead - Central London - Salary between £53,800 to £61,740 + Excellent benefits Our client, a world leading higher education institution are seeking a Web Technology Analyst to join their IT team based in London. Job Responsibilities: - To provide direction and leadership to the TechOps / DevOps Team across all technologies - The TechOps/DevOps Team Lead is a subject matter and technical expert (Hands On) on server technologies, Cloud Technologies, Web technologies and other key technologies such as networking, virtualization and Databases (Not limited too). Systems including Windows, Linux and Unix systems. - You will be responsible for overseeing the proactive day-to-day technical activities related to maintaining, monitoring and developing reliable, effective and resilient Infrastructure and Cloud systems (Hybrid), along with managing and maintaining applications. - The post holder will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of processes and procedures and follow other central ICT guidelines. - You will play a key role in the implementation of major projects. - The team lead will also be responsible for the resource scheduling, the assignment of work activities within the team, as well as ensuring that all project related work is carried to schedule. - Working collaboratively with internal teams and customers to automate, orchestrate and streamline operational processes. - Troubleshoot and resolve complex requests, issues and problems to customer's expectation on either central ICT services systems or to customer-hosted systems. - Provide world class 24x7 support, must be able to work outside to core business hours to support upgrades and maintenance works to avoid business impact during core business hours. - The post holder is to work closely with the Technical Infrastructure Delivery Manager to ensure that the above are understood and planned. Also engaging with other key stakeholders within ICT. - Constantly managing customer and software projects, evaluating and improving our technical processes. - Continually updating documentation to keep them up to date and in a central location. - Coordinate work efforts, prepare reports, data analysis, and project management and ensure a regular reporting status are delivery to the Technical infrastructure delivery manager. - Manage the tickets via the Service management tools. - Manage and maintain systems and improve availability as per ICT's SLAs and KPIs. - Manage technical on boarding of new products and systems, working closely with various groups within the organisation, including release management. - Develop and maintain a program of proactive system administration, including but not limited to system / application updates, patches and fixes, system / application enhancements, log monitoring, system hardening and troubleshoot and repair all server related and application related problems in a timely manner, in line with SLAs and KPIs. - Ensure that quality standards are maintained in internal and customer documentation, and the adoption of ICT's quality procedures, particularly change and release management are followed. - Maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism in the ICT department. - Assist the Infrastructure Technology Manager in hiring, performance evaluations and on-going development of policies and procedures, staff training & professional development for all the team. - Develop and maintain a server/systems recovery plan for all systems to include both a regular backup schedule and tested process for data restoration to achieve better levels of system availability. - Plan the work of the staff, Project manage complex tasks for the group. Production of plans for the strategic development of the infrastructure and systems. - Supply expenditure requirements to the Technical Infrastructure Delivery Manager for both the current and future budgets. - Meet with other groups in ICT, Attend meetings and attend seminars with peers from HE community and supplier meetings. - Coordination within ICT to achieve its goals. To represent the group and ICT to our customers, and elicit their views. - Provide leadership to the TechOps / DevOps team and manage the work of a number staff. - Conduct regular team meetings, 1 to 1s and manage any issues raised. - Evaluation of software and hardware. - Providing a consultancy service to other business units. - Co-ordinate cross section teams to resolve specific or complex problems, following up with the cloud providers to ensure resolution to time and quality. - Understand, implement and automate security controls, governance processes and compliance validation. Experience - 5+ years' experience as a TechOps / DevOps Team Lead with 2 or 3 years of design and implementation of infrastructure, applications and Cloud Solutions at enterprise level. - Experience with large Datacenters and migration, Cloud migration, integration and consolidation efforts. - Experience with build & design of monitoring software. - Provide advice and guidance to users of ICT Cloud Services and technologies around their use and application. - Provide Technical 3rd Line support for Windows, Linux and Unix systems. - Provide Technical 3rd Line support for VMware ESXi 6.x. - Knowledge and use of vRealize 7.x, and other components such as NSX etc. - Working knowledge of SQL, MySQL and Oracle. - 3rd Line support for Active Directory Services, ADFS, DirSync and other foundations services. - Mac OS support. - Provide Technical and Architectural support for Cloud Services, such as Azure, AWS, etc. - Good knowledge in network infrastructure design and administration. - Provide Technical 3rd Line support for web infrastructure and technologies. - Proficiency in scripting, such as PowerShell, BASH and others. - Must have in depth knowledge of SCCM 2012 and 2016 to manage and develop the environment and migration of SCCM 2012.
