My client a Global leader in their field are looking for a Lead Java Developer to work as part of their risk development team working with the latest Java technology to develop innovative and dynamic products. This role is based in newly refurbished offices in central Nottingham Client Details Based in new offices in Nottingham where my client are building a strong technology hub you will be part of a world leader in their business sector Description Role Summary: We're looking for a talented Lead Java developer to work as part of the Risk Development team. As a Software Engineer in the team, you'll be responsible for the analysis, definition, design, implementation, testing, maintenance and support of the products the team owns. You'll work closely with QA engineers to deliver to the high standard that our customers expect. You will also mentor junior team members, working alongside the team management to help further enhance the skills and capabilities of the team. Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities: - Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code based on requirements or User Stories - Develop software using disciplined software development processes, adhering to team/company standards and software best practice guidelines, and corporate policies. - Create and execute unit testing and integration testing ensuring software meets requirements. - Positively engage with the QA team to ensure that code is developed to a high quality - Contribute to the creation of designs, leading the design of less complex components - Provide technical support to operations or other development teams. - Create, review, and maintain all required technical reference material to ensure supportability and reuse. - Review work of peers and more junior developers. - Assist with improvements to prevent problems, including problem resolution workflow. - Participate in project planning sessions with team members to analyze development requirements, provide design options, and provide work breakdown and estimates of work. - Actively participate in team and status meetings, providing timely status updates for areas of individual responsibilities within projects to supervisor. Key Relationships: - Development Manager - Development Team Lead (reporting to) - Development and QA Team Profile As the Lead Java Developer you will need the following but alongised this AWS experience is desirable plus you will need to show good solid experience of Web/Cloud Applications development not just websites. Essential Skills/Experience Required: - Experienced software engineer with excellent knowledge of the Java language and underlying JVM - Solid understanding of object-oriented programming - Familiar with various design patterns - Experience of unit testing - Knowledge of databases and SQL - Understanding of security implications and secure coding - Understanding of HTML and XML - Self starter - does what it takes to get the job done - Superb communication skills, verbal and written - Skill for writing clean, readable code and reusable Java libraries - Proficient using source code management tools such as version control or SVN - Experienced in a formal agile software development lifecycle Desired Skills/Experience Required: - Experience with RESTful interfaces - Experience with web technologies such as Javascript, JQuery and CSS - Familiar with continuous build and integration - Experience with Test Driven Development and / or Behaviour Driven Development - Understanding of multithreading - Working knowledge of Cloud technologies Education/ Certifications: - A good relevant degree is desirable, but experience and the right approach to work are just as important. - Oracle Java certification is desirable but not required. Job Offer This Nottingham based Lead Java developer role has a salary of £48,000 - £55,000
