Financial Controller: This is a hands-on role with the Financial Controller being the day-to-day leader for the finance function at the leading brand in Rooflights, Daylighting Solutions, Smoke Vents and Access Hatches. The Financial Controller is responsible for the financial stewardship of the company, the reporting of results, many of the key processes underpinning the business with direct contact with the MD, the Exec, all managers, customers, suppliers, auditors and other external parties as required. As the champion of risk and controls you will set the highest standards and drive change. Building strong relationships and great communication skills will be key to success in this role. The business has seen steady growth under the leadership of the owners from humble beginnings to a multi-channel, leading brand, £14 million turnover company. Key Responsibilities: *Lead the Finance Team. *Deliver timely & accurate company management and financial reports, routine and adhoc duties. *Assist, and potentially lead, the annual budget setting process. *Manage the Purchase Ledger process (via AP Clerk). Ensuring an efficient and effective matching process for supplier purchase orders, invoices and payments. Ensure accruals are robust and up to date *Manage the Sales Ledger process (via AR Clerk). Ensuring an efficient and effective matching process for customer orders, invoicing and payments. Strong credit control is essential. *Maintain the robustness of the balance sheet; ensuring reconciliations are performed and that any reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner. *Identify improvement opportunities in working capital and overall balance sheet. *Preparation of monthly and year end management accounts. *Routine review/control/reconciliation of bank accounts. *Implement foreign currency transactions as required including proposal of hedging decisions. *Support strong cost control ethos through routine review with departmental managers. *Assist the development of internal systems (currently Epicor E9 ERP and Goldvision CRM). *Lead relationship with external accounting/audit/tax firm(s). *Support the team members in furthering their financial understanding. *Positive role model for company health & safety, environmental, legal and statutory policies. Essential Skills & Experience: *Qualified Accountant (ACCA or equivalent) *Excellent team leadership skills, across a breadth of skill levels with a proven ability to mentor, coach and develop the finance team *Significant hands on, and varied, accounting experience essential *Good working knowledge of accounting packages (Epicor currently used - desirable) *Good working knowledge of Excel *Preparing and reviewing financial statements under UK GAAP/ new FRS *Specific practical experience of credit control *Ability to communicate complex finance issues in an accessible manner to the business *Ability and desire to work with both the routine (e.g., system posting, bank recs) as well as more challenging elements (e.g., credit control, account preparation) *Influencing skills and capability/desire to drive positive change *Cultural awareness *Ability to act fast, flexibly and creatively without losing control *Unquestionable confidentiality *Uncompromised levels of Integrity For the right individual this position offers a long term stable career within a thriving, progressive business.
