Jackson Hogg are working with an expanding electrical engineering business on a DevOps engineer role. As a DevOps engineer you will work closely with the software development teams across the organisation and software QA function. You will be designing and building best-in-class software build and release infrastructure used by the organisation, its subsidiaries and partners, where required. You will be responsible for architecting scalable systems that grow with the expansion of the development organisation. The systems you build will greatly enhance the control and efficiency of the entire software development organisation. Job role: - Qualifying, installing and maintaining software tools used for product development. At times, this may include specifying and sourcing new software tools. - Developing and automating development activities and processes using software tools and scripting languages. - Creating and maintaining product configuration management and software build environment. - Creating and maintaining product configuration management and release plans for all projects according to customer requirements and internal processes. - Creating and releasing product and software releases, including automating the release process and metrics. - Defining, tracking and reporting product status over the entire product development lifecycle. - Planning and estimating DevOps activities with project managers and the project teams. - Following the company quality procedures and relevant national and international standards - Ensuring all work is carried out safely Must have experience and skills in ALL of these areas below: - Experience with automation using scripting and OO programming language and tools. Specifically, JIRA, Jenkins, Python and C# - Experience with configuration management - Experience with SQL or similar database technologies - Knowledge of IT systems and IT best practices Desirable experience and skills: - Experience high volume embedded products, ideally in the automotive industry. - Experience with standards such as Automotive SPICE, CMMi, ISO26262, IEC61508 etc - Experience with CASE tools (configuration management, requirements management, static analysis tools, unit / integration / system test tools) - Other high level programming languages such as C, C++, etc - Other scripting languages such as PHP, Perl, Ruby, TCL - Integration, ETL and analytic tools such as Alteryx and Tableau Personal attributes: - Interest in product development and strong automation of systems and processes. - Enthusiastic, flexible and keen approach to learning, etc. - Structured individual with good problem solving skills - Excellent communication skills and able to deal with all levels of the organisation - Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise work accordingly - Comfortable in customer facing role, confident and thoughtful - Must able to work alone with minimum guidance, but also be able to operate effectively as part of a team. - Flexibility to travel in UK and overseas
