Within an Agile team, you will be working collaboratively with the Development & QA team and be responsible for the site and infrastructure. You will be involved various projects, which range from small day-to-day BAU changes to long-term projects such as systems integration. You will also collaborate closely with all IT disciplines and other business functions, having a view of projects from their inception through to deployment. Reporting to the Development Manager and Head of Development, your key responsibilities will be the maintenance and development of the e-commerce technology platforms and associated infrastructure, and ensure that projects are delivered on-time and on-budget. Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities: - Front end PHP/Magento development within an Agile team - Collaborate with Business Analysts, Scrum Masters and Project Managers to facilitate project delivery - Evaluate existing development processes, identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks and proposing solutions - Coordination, assessment and planning of releases into Production environments - Peer review of code from both internal and third party Software Engineers, promoting best practices and quality of code - Any other activities as outlined by the Development Manager or Head of Development Skills, Essential: - knowledge and experience of PHP, ideally with experience in Magento - Knowledge of MySQL and relational databases - Knowledge of JavaScript and frameworks(such as JQuery and Prototype) - Frontend development using XHTML and CSS, - Experience in working on responsive websites and workflow tools like SASS and Grunt - Knowledge in Magento theme modification, best practices and layout updates using XML - Minimum of 2 years of commercial experience - Experience of using project management tools such as JIRA - Familiarity with the LAMP stack - Comfortable working with Git or another version control system in a team environment - Happy using the command line interface as part of your workflow - Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies - Working knowledge of current testing processes and methodologies - Be able to self-manage their own workload - Ability to multi-task and juggle both individual tasks as well as oversee team tasks - Attention to detail and pride in your work - Clear verbal and written communication - Be a self-starter and able to work on your own initiative Desirable: - Magento and/or Zend Certification - Knowledge and the willingness to cross-train in other languages such as, Ruby, Java, C# etc - Automation, particularly automated testing and continuous deployment - Scaling web systems, particularly Magento or other e-commerce platforms - Knowledge of DevOps and provisioning tools, such as Puppet and Chef - Familiarity with TDD and/or BDD - Experience od working with AWS and associated technologies Experience working in an agile environment.
