Supplier Development Engineer Up to £42,000 Telford We are looking to recruit two Supplier Development Engineers for new roles within a FTSE100 engineering and support services business based in Telford. The organisation is the UKs largest provider of engineering and support services to the UKs Armed forces. From the site in Telford the organisation maintain, repair, and store the Army's fleet of land vehicles. The purpose of this role is to lead regular reviews at supplier locations managing their suppliers through value and development plans in line with the current procurement strategy. The role will on occasion require positive intervention in the supply base to recover situations where supply is at risk. The Supplier Development Engineer will also support procurement in the selection of new suppliers by leading supplier assessment surveys and informing the decision making process. This will be achieved by taking responsibility for the following tasks - Support the generation of then manage the supplier value, development plans. - Review performance metrics with the supplier's management teams and identify areas for improvement or recovery. Drive performance excellence in the suppliers they are engaged with. - Manage steering recovery/improvement plans using the full Supplier Development toolkit. - Work closely with the Supplier Quality team and the supplier to ensure robust Quality procedures are in place and correctly followed. - Lead Continuous Improvement activity initiatives with their suppliers. - Work with the supplier to identify and innovate solutions - Maintain the Supplier Action Log to capture all current initiatives and issues. - Support Procurement in new supplier selection by carrying out assessments to ensure supplier capacity, complexity and sustainability is understood in order to inform decision making. - Manage the supplier through the Supplier Escalation process. - Support Category Management initiatives by providing supplier and industry intelligence to inform decision making. Technical Experience and Qualifications (Essential) - Supplier Development experience working in an industrial supply base. - Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant industry experience. - Experience of applying structured problem solving techniques in a manufacturing environment. - Industry experience in Manufacturing, Industrial, Automotive, or Aerospace. - Practical knowledge and experience of multiple management systems (ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001). - Excellent understanding of technical drawings and related specifications. - Practical experience in the use of continuous improvement tools and techniques e.g. process management, kaizen, lean, six sigma (Yellow/Green Belt preferred). - Thorough knowledge and use of IT and the Internet - Full UK Driving Licence What's on offer?
