Job Title: Engineering Manager Location: Slough Salary: c£50k The Company: The company manufactures, supplies and services water purification systems for use in general, R&D, healthcare and clinical laboratories. The Job: The role requires someone who can manage and continue to develop the Engineering and Industrialisation team and to deliver sustainable profitable growth through the provision of innovative, class beating product. You should be able to demonstrate engineering and design skills to develop leading edge products with minimal and controlled risk and have broad experience in electronics, firmware, software and mechanical design with a degree level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. You will need to be a strong people manager who is conversant with technical principles, technologies, product requirements and engineering products, and be able to lead with project management experience. Responsibilities: - Man-management of a multi-disciplined team made up of Mechanical, Electronic, and external software consultants - Coordination of the project throughout its concept and development phase to ensure the product is developed and delivered to the agreed timelines - The role includes responsibility for conceptual product design, product development, engineering project delivery and creating technologically advanced, high quality and cost effective manufacturing solutions - Focusing on design and development but someone who can also consider the business impacts - Work with supply chain to continue our journey towards standardised BOM's - Work with operations and supply chain on cost reduction (DFM / DFA) activities - Structure the department - Ensure our business processes, quality procedures and work instructions for the design element of ISO9001 are suitable and maintained Qualifications and Experience: - The applicant should have previous experience and a demonstrable track record of successfully managing individuals and teams within a product-driven environment, with excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. - An excellent people manager with strong coaching, mentoring and interpersonal skills - An individual who can balance both innovation and standardisation - Strong mechanical engineering competence with a broad experience in electrical engineering, fluidics, embedded software and electronics would be ideal. - A working knowledge of Pro-E
