I am currently working exclusively with a national business which provides a complex range of services to its diverse customer base.

The business has a number of long-standing client relationships which continue to develop but also has a strong reputation for winning new and exciting contracts.

Core Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable/Credit Control, Bank reconciliations, Cashiers, payroll and financial accounting functions, developing operational practices to improve efficiency and service levels, implementing process change, ensuring documentation is complete and up to date,contributing to the strategic development of the team, coaching and developing team members and ensuring the team adopts a flexible ‘can do’ approach in future business changes.

To deliver a timely, accurate and robust financial control environment, ensuring that financial accounting and control processes are of the highest standard and meet all internal and external reporting requirements.


Line management for the Finance Operations Manager, Payroll Manager and the Management Accountant.

Management and development of the financial operations team:

business as usual –ensuring a stable processing environment and finance process improvement

business partnership –workingwith the business to improve processes, systems, financial controls, finance deliverychange management and process improvement within FinancePayroll delivery

·overall responsibility for timely, accurate and compliant payroll delivery including future payroll and payroll tax related change.

Management and financial accounting

full responsibility for month end processing and financial closecontrol account and balance sheet reconciliationsnominal ledger/trial balance integrityproduction of the firm’s monthly management accounts including profit and loss, cash flow and balance sheet and the annual statutory accountsannual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting for central teamsquarterly covenant reportingStatutory and regulatory compliance responsibility for:

·Statutory financial reporting

·HMRC – VAT and payroll tax

·Payroll and pensions regulatory compliance

·Responsible for the annual statutory audit and liaison with auditors and tax advisors


·VAT returns

·Payroll tax and returns

·Liaison with the Taxation Manager re preparation of the taxation return

Cash and working capital management

·Produce rolling 13-week cash flow forecast and ensure daily monitoring against banking facilities

·Assistance in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecast cash flow and balance sheets and monthly actual variance analysis

·Work with business to implement best practice working capital management


As part of the finance team, you would be expected to have the following skills and experience:

·Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)

·Experience within a similar role: experienced finance manager with responsibility for managing a large finance transactional processing teams combined with responsibility for statutory reporting and financial control

·Strong communication, inter-personal and managerial skills including managing internal senior management relationships

·Excellent balance sheet control account reconciliation and financial control awareness

·Strong attention to detail with ability to apply pragmatism and deliver solutions within a strict regulatory controlled environment

·HMRC -PAYE and VAT legislation awareness and understanding

·Must be IT literate with advanced excel 2010 skills

·A self-starter with strong motivation

·Focused on delivering a high quality level of customer service
