Teaching Assistant needed for a Secondary School in Newport. Full time, long term - Starting in October 2017
A large Secondary school in Newport are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full time and ongoing basis. The school have been given additional funding to employ on a long-term basis. The role is to begin in October 2017 and is expected to be ongoing and will be reviewed at Christmas.
This school has a large and friendly staffing team, who work well under a very effective and strong leadership team to ensure that pupil opportunity to achieve is maximised in all aspects. The school is very well resourced and has excellent facilities, as well as maintaining excellent community links to ensure that pupils are given the best opportunities to enhance their experiences.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team, working to support small groups of pupils and pupils on a 1:1 basis. All lessons and literacy tasks will be planned, delivered and directed by the class teacher - you will be sitting with the pupils in the classroom, ensuring that they understand what is required of them and that they are on task to complete the work that is required of them. A number of these pupils will have varying additional learning needs.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be able to differentiate between the varying ability levels of the pupils and be able to adapt your support methods accordingly. The right people for these jobs will be enthusiastic in nature, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This will be extremely important in building good working relationships with the pupils, which you will use to effectively manage their behaviour, and to ensure that they remain on task at all times. You will need to work together to create and maintain a positive learning environment where the pupils feel inspired to achieve.
In order to apply for this position you will need;
Recent and relevant experience of supporting the delivery of the British National Curriculum within a mainstream classroom environment
Genuinely enthusiastic in nature
Able to build good working relationships with others
Able to apply appropriate behaviour management techniques to keep children focused
Able to provide satisfactory and relevant references and documentation.
