This purpose built school in Caerphilly aims to promote learning, self-esteem and confidence in all of their pupils. The school ensures that all staff have access to outstanding facilities in order to meet pupils' needs and to create an exciting and attractive learning environment. Currently, there are approximately 150 pupils within the school with a variety of learning needs including severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, high functioning ASD and some emotional and behavioural difficulties. The school caters for primary aged pupils and those of secondary age. Each pupil has different needs and learning is tailored towards each individual's needs.
Your New Role
The school are now looking for a passionate and charismatic Teacher assistant to work on a full time basis from October Half Term 2017.
You will be working closely with the leadership team to support pupils with severe learning difficulties. Impairment levels of the pupils vary, it is therefore extremely important that you are able to develop rapport with pupils and an understanding of their individual needs. You will be responsible for ensuring that pupil's feel supported and encouraged and will deliver the curriculum with learning goals at the forefront.
The right person for this job MUST have;
First hand understanding and experience of working with children with learning difficulties in a similar environment
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to effectively guide pupil behaviour
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - this will be important for building rapport with pupils, as well as staff members and parents
The ability to monitor pupil development and offer suggestions and feedback
