The successful Plant Engineer will control, manage and direct site engineering activities, primarily responsible for cost effective maintenance of all mechanical and electrical equipment across two sites in the Middlesbrough area. Reporting in to the Plant Manager you will be part of the senior management team responsible for all engineering personnel. Client Details Recognised as a key part of the Middlesbrough engineering industry, the business operates globally and offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Plant Engineer. Description Key Roles & Responsibilities - Ensure that the Engineering Department achieves optimum plant availability. - Recommend and directs actions to correct adverse deviations. Confident in presenting ideas to improve plant performance, availability, reduce costs and improve plant assets. Able to do so by keeping abreast of new technology and new techniques in process development and product improvement. - Monitor and direct annual engineering expenditure. - Negotiate contracts up to major project status. Also negotiate with Trade Unions to ensure continuity of operations within National and Local Agreements. - Continuous monitoring/appraisal of plant and equipment performance. - Ensure all legislative requirements are satisfied by establishing and maintaining statutory and mandatory equipment registers. - Ensure regular monitoring and maintenance of environmental control equipment. - Direct and authorise future design and development requirements in order to meet strategy and capital plans. - Establish and maintain high standards of discipline, safety and housekeeping. - Regularly monitor manager's performance and career development, in order to identify training needs to ensure an efficient team and viable succession plan. - Foster, and extend other human resource initiatives. Profile Plant Engineer - Knowledge and Experience - Educated to degree level or equivalent and preferably a corporate member of an engineering institute. Experience of Trade Union negotiations and procedures. - Ability to optimise plant performance and the potential to effect improvement by using engineering control techniques. - An up-to-date knowledge of hot rolling techniques and modern maintenance philosophies and practices. Job Offer Salary up to £70,000 dependent on experience and qualification
