Data Centre (Cabling) Technician - Canary Wharf (£30K pa) The end customer is one of the largest IT managed service companies in the world, who are willing to invest in providing a high standard of training and continual progression to all their engineers. The Data Centre (Cabling) Technician will be entitled to a wide range of benefits and have the chance to earn more money with plenty of overtime available. The successful Data Centre (Cabling) Technician will work in a well-organized and highly technical environment, providing 24*7 support to the Data Centre and will be responsible for providing technical assistance and overall support to their customers, including the installation of racks housing, patching and computer equipment. The Data Centre (Cabling) Technician will be responsible for but not limited to the following: - Monitoring and troubleshooting. Responsible for maintaining and reacting to established monitoring and alarming systems. Escalating calls in a timely and orderly manner. - Managing and implementing all installations as required by company Operations. Terminations, testing, patching and labelling of all cross-connects in the datacentre (COAX, Cat5, Cat6 and Fibre). - Pro-active communication with all customers with the ability to work effectively and resolve issues in a calm and controlled manner. Essential Skills needed for the Data Centre (Cabling) Technician: - Strong communication skills (English) written and spoken - Knowledge of Datacentre environments - Experience in Customer Service, Operation Centres or Datacentres - Experience of Cat5e / Cat6a / Fibre Cabling techniques (Installation, Termination & Testing)
