Automotive Chassis Test Engineer to support the chassis engineering group of the EU Performance Engineering Department at R&D (Europe) UK. The engineer will be capable to participate in vehicle testing and vehicle benchmarking to measure conformity/non-conformity to dynamic performance standards. To contribute to vehicle performance evaluations and consequent tuning of various dynamic systems. Also possessing the ability to investigate and countermeasure quality topics in the market. Test Engineer - Automotive chassis Swindon (commutable from Reading, Oxford, Andover, Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester) £35-40k Automotive Chassis Test Engineer to support the chassis engineering group of the EU Performance Engineering Department at R&D (Europe) UK. The engineer will be capable to participate in vehicle testing and vehicle benchmarking to measure conformity/non-conformity to dynamic performance standards. To contribute to vehicle performance evaluations and consequent tuning of various dynamic systems. Also possessing the ability to investigate and countermeasure quality topics in the market. Responsibilities: " To work closely with chassis design and test colleagues to improve new models, and support localisation activity within the vehicle dynamic area. " Conduct vehicle tests to specific protocols to ensure vehicle/component adherence and prepare test reports. " Provide support to vehicle design simulation activities as required. " Analyse and report on the effects of chassis characteristics and summarise clearly. " Propose ideas and proactively research advanced technology trends through benchmarking, investigation, conference attendance, etc., reporting results within the UK and to R&D globally. " Provide technical support for analysis and countermeasure of warranty issues, working with R&D Japan, factory, service and suppliers. " A good level of project management control will be required. Requirements: " Degree in Automotive engineering or equivalent " Experience in ride and handling vehicle evaluation and tuning. " Experience in suspension development and testing. " Prior experience in Adaptive Damping System development and tuning is desirable. " Strong data analysis and data processing skills are required. " An understanding of vehicle dynamics and the role and function of chassis systems " Exposure to design simulation (MATLAB, ADAMS, SWIFT, IPG CarMaKer) is desirable. " Experience of actual parts and vehicle validation (Kinematics & Compliance rig) " Proactive approach demonstrating a high level of self-motivation to deliver results. " A flexible attitude and the ability to be responsive to change. " Regular travel within the UK and overseas will be required. " An adept communicator, able to build strong relationships across cultures. " Full driving licence. " Japanese Language skills or competence in a European language would be beneficial.
