Head of Financial Reporting (IFRS 17) York Job ID: R-57285 Full time This role is part of the Life Financial Reporting team within the broader Aviva Finance Operations team: a highly effective and agile team providing finance reporting excellence to the rest of Aviva's Finance function and wider business. This team, under the leadership of our global process owners, will be responsible for our core global Finance operational and reporting production processes. The Life Financial Reporting team prepares the Life IFRS and Solvency II financial results along with the legal entity financial statements, Solvency II QRTs and narrative reports. In addition, it provides financial results for the wider Business. The role will be focused on the development and implementation of the new IFRS 17 regime into the Life reporting team to include development of our technical rules, systems and processes. We're looking for a qualified accountant or actuary with demonstrable post-qualified experience, ideally gained within a large insurance company environment. You will have a strong mix of relationship management and technical accounting skills (across both IFRS and Solvency II), and a good understanding of both Life and Non-Life insurance products and markets. You will have a proven record of delivering to time and quality, and experience of pro-active stakeholder management across a range of disciplines and seniority levels. This is hugely varied role, and while you will need to be comfortable with dealing with a broad spectrum of responsibilities and tasks, it will provide the successful candidate with a diverse range of development opportunities and a strong position to progress their career within Aviva. Responsibility for the development and implementation of the IFRS 17 plans for the Life financial reporting team to cover development of systems and process to comply with the new regulations. The person will work closely with the wider Aviva Group IFRS 17 programme to ensure delivery is aligned to the overall Group wide plans. Duties & Responsibilities: - Core leadership role reporting into the Director of Life Reporting. - Leadership role to work across the Life Reporting team and the Global IFRS 17 programme to develop and implement IFRS 17 requirements into the Life Reporting team. - Lead, develop and deliver the IFRS 17 plans for the Life Financial reporting team to cover technical, systems and process changes. - Align the IFRS 17 requirements to the broader Finance transformation programme to ensure we deliver an excellent end to end Financial Reporting solution. Skills & Experience required: Qualifications: - Degree level or equivalent. - Qualified Accountant or Actuary (Life actuary), with strong finance technical experience, excellent change experience and strong knowledge in both IFRS and Solvency II, with good working knowledge across all bases. Skills/Knowledge: - Ability to identify and mitigate issues or risks and know when to escalate. - Ability to identify problems and resolve these or escalate as appropriate. - Strong financial or regulatory reporting experience. Experience: - Strong team management and development skills. - Strong knowledge of insurance products. - Strong reporting systems knowledge. - Strong project / process management skills (design, implement and improve). - Strong attention to detail / controls focus. - Stakeholder management and cultural awareness skills. - Analytical and problem solving skills covering technical, process and interpersonal issues. - Strong communication (verbal & written) skills. - Strong team working skills and interpersonal skills. - Highly proactive and willing & able to operate successfully in a fluid resource environment.
