A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced System Administrator to work primarily in a project context with responsibility for the provision, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of system hardware, software and related infrastructure. The System Administrator ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to the project & organisational standards and will assist the project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases. Must have skills The ideal System Administrator will have a minimum of 3 years experience in a delivery focused environment with an in-depth knowledge of administration with the following technologies: - Server hardware/blade technology - Storage hardware (SAN/NAS) - Network devices/appliances (firewalls, switches, routers, content switches, etc) - WAN/LAN technologies - UNIX (Linux, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, etc) - Microsoft Operating Systems - Database technology (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, etc) - Security (network security, authentication, anti-malware, etc) - Some knowledge of cloud orchestration technologies. Highly desirable skills In addition to the essential skills listed above, experience of one or more of the following competencies are desirable: - Automation and scripting skills including use of a scripting language such as Python or Ruby, proficiency with shell scripting (e.g. BASH) - Exposure to continuous integration and build tools - Knowledge of platform and application automated deployment technologies (e.g. Cobbler, Puppet, Chef, Tivoli Provisioning Manager, Foreman) - Experience of application servers such as WebSphere, WebLogic or JBOSS - Exposure or knowledge of web security, e.g. OWASP. - Exposure to ITIL. - Exposure Azure, Google Cloud, Dell Boomi or other public cloud technology. - Exposure to containerisation technologies
