Merchandising Category Buyer (Product Manager) Circa £40,000 - £50,000 + Comprehensive Benefits package and long term career progression. Birmingham, West Midlands Merchandising Category Buyer (Product Sourcing/Product Manager) working within a fast paced buying team, managing sourcing activities for an extensive product portfolio, supporting major customer channels. Ideal candidates will all ready have experience of working within a Merchandising Category Buyer or Product Management focused role. As Merchandising Category Buyer (Product Manager) you will be responsible for - - Sourcing of products from a Far East supplier base, negotiating with manufacturers to produce new products to enhance category range as well as standard seasonal products. Negotiation of price, volume, delivery / procurement process end to end and the management of key vendors - Proactively support the product development process in line with Merchandising Category Managers, managing conceptual ideas through the design process through to manufactured product - Full range development management of your designated category - Manage a variety of ongoing sourcing and product development projects, ensuring activities are priorities in order to meet retail timescales. - Work collaboratively with Merchandising, Brand Marketing, Marketing and QA teams, being able to influence and drive category performance - Assist the delivery of growth for category for all customer channels, maximising profitability in line with customer needs, showing a strong awareness of LCC sourcing. It is expected that the successful Merchandising Category Buyer (Sourcing Manager) will have the following: - Proven experience of working within a similar Sourcing, Category Buyer, Product Manager, Merchandising Manager, Category Manager, Procurement Manager role with 2- 6 years experience at this level. - Experience of developing products from scratch, able to demonstrate creating of successful conceptual ideas, working closely with vendors to manage the design and manufacture of products. - Experience of Far East supplier trips essential to apply. Candidates must be willing to travel. - Candidates will ideally be working within a business that supply into the Retail sector. - Experience of working within a large blue chip fast paced environment. - Ability to stand your ground and influence internal stakeholders on key category decisions that will ultimately drive the performance of sales. - Strong customer focus and customer awareness.
