Aircraft Technician – Mechanical



There are currently multiple opportunities, at varying levels within a growing, dynamic organisation based in Nottinghamshire. Serco is contracted as the Glider Maintenance provider, to deliver available Gliders to meet Number 2 Flying Training School’s flying requirement at RAF Syerston and other locations around the United Kingdom, necessitating working away from Syerston.



This is an exciting role for an Aircraft Technician with experience in with a aircraft mechanical systems.





The main duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Scheduled and corrective maintenance on Viking and Vigilant aircraft located at RAF Syerston airfield and at Volunteer Gliding Squadrons throughout the UK.

Fault finding, problem solving and repair of Engine and Airframe systems in line with quality procedures.
Carrying out Flight Line Maintenance.
Ground movement of aircraft.
The preparation of aircraft for road or air transportation.
Certification of maintenance within the scope of authorisation approvals held.
The quality control of aircraft maintenance and associated components, ground equipment, service equipment and documentation relating to the completion of maintenance tasks performed.
Taking responsibility for the completion of required maintenance tasks in the normal course of your shift duties including the satisfactory, efficient and timely completion of tasks as and when required by the Engineering Supervisor.
Remaining current with all amendments to the company procedures/manuals and all other relevant technical data provided.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:



  • Qualified Aircraft Airframe and/or Propulsion Mechanic/Technician – (City and Guilds Aeronautical Engineering Parts 1 and 2 or NVQ equivalent, or equivalent qualification or a British Glider Association Inspector).

Demonstrate experience in either a Civil Aviation or Military aviation environment, in a relevant trade group.
Possess good fault diagnosis skills, demonstrating a thorough understanding of aircraft systems.
Technically competent.
Hold full driving licence (Class B -maximum of 6 points).
Possess good communication skills both written and verbal.
Have been previously employed within a Continuous Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) – desirable.
Has working knowledge of military or civilian aircraft maintenance documentation and publications.
