The Electronics Engineering Function at Leonardo in Edinburgh requires a Senior / Principal PCB Layout Engineer to join the current PCB Layout Team. You are expected to have experience in using PCB layout tools, processes and standards .

Key Responsibility Areas You will be required to provide innovative layout solutions for complex, multi-layer, PCBs with multiple interfaces.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required

  • You are expected to have an HNC/HND or degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering supported by appropriate fundamental elements and a specialisation in PCB tools.
  • Creating complex multi-layer PCBs with multiple design interfaces including RF, digital, FPGA, power supply and mixed signal circuitry.
  • Validating manufacturing data to ensure compliance with supplier capability.
  • Providing legacy support for existing project schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Providing advice to electronic engineers relating to design rules for PCB tools, materials and substrate technology.
  • Liaising with external suppliers, PCB Assembly and PCB Fabricator
  • You are expected to be familiar with current industry standard ECAD tools used for PCB design and verification.
  • It is desirable that you have knowledge in Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, Expedition Enterprise, HyperLynx, Valor and all other PCB related tools.

Intrinsic Factors

  • This is mainly an office based role using display screen.
  • Working to tight deadlines either on a regular or ad hoc basis will be required.
  • Occasional UK travel with overnight stays may be required.
  • The nature of the tasks involved means that any candidates applying for the position must be capable of achieving UK Security Check (SC) clearance. Obtaining SC clearance normally requires candidates to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
