Maintenance Engineer Based in Northamptonshire Job ref: EG/39691 Salary: Commensurate with experience The client: Our client is a leading manufacturer supplying the major automotive OEMs and first tier companies. The business has benefitted from ?multi-million investment and is well positioned for growth. As part of its continual drive for improvement, the company is seeking a talented electrically biased maintenance engineer with a proven background in an injection moulding environment. Working a rotating shift pattern to provide preventative and reactive maintenance, repairs, and continuous improvement of the production equipment and facilities. Perform planned maintenance, diagnostics and fault finding on plastic injection moulding machines, related ancillaries, plant services equipment, facilities, robot paint and flocking lines, and bespoke PLC based assembly equipment Provide technical support to the production function. The role: Preventative Maintenance - Carry out planned PM tasks on all types of plant and production equipment following PVL-N procedures - 100% on-time completion of all PM activities in line with CORIM schedule - Liaise directly with production/planning to ensure availability of equipment to ensure 'on-time, in full' completion of PM - Maintain a flexible approach to ensure production requirements are met whilst planning/carrying out PM activities - Ensure PM documentation is completed in full with details of any follow up actions recorded on CORIM and a corresponding 'corrective maintenance' tickets raised - Responsible for identifying and specifying any parts required for the PM activities and any corresponding corrective action that follows - Actively assess the PM schedule and tasks to ensure continuous improvement of the procedures - Take a strong bias towards PREVENTION in all tasks (preventive and corrective). As a maintenance engineer it is a priority to demonstrate and promote a Pro-active, Preventative approach to all activities - Ensure production equipment is left in tidy and clean condition with all guarding & equipment correctly in place after completion of task - Ensure any issues found during PM are rectified at the time if time allows - Responsible for ensuring there is no risk of harm to yourself or others during PM activities. This will be achieved by ensuring no access can be gained to areas of a machine with the potential to cause injury. Corrective Maintenance - Provide rapid response to mould tool failures to minimise production downtime - Use external specialist resources to help solve machine issues in a timely manner - Apply a logical approach to mould tool failures and fault investigation - Prioritise equipment failures in-line with business requirements by use of common sense and good level of communication with injection department - Clear record keeping using CORIM system. Details of work carried out should be comprehensive and include details of parts used, investigations carried out (with findings), and method of repair. All reports should be completed in English - Inform direct report of any parts that are required either for stock or direct repairs. Provide details such as part numbers, suppliers, qty, etc. - Carry out, and assist formal root cause investigations - Responsible for achieving a high standard of repair at all times. The aim is to improve the overall condition and appearance of the tools each time they are worked on. The quality of each repair will be such that repeat occurrence is prevented. You are responsible for the quality of your work! - Equipment must be left in tidy and clean condition with all guarding correctly in place after completion of task - All repairs should be carried out inline with PVL-N and UK health & safety regulations - Responsibility for communicating status of tool repair to relevant production leader - Responsible for ensuring there is no risk of harm to yourself or others during repair activities. This will be achieved by ensuring no access can be gained to areas where work is being undertaken. - Assist in tool damage investigations - Responsible for providing possible root cause feedback to appropriate department if damage is consistent with a preventable incident Other duties: - Responsible for ensuring a high standard of housekeeping in the Toolroom, Tool Repair area, and the immediate working area if work is begin undertaken on the shopfloor. - Ensure the Toolroom stores are well organised and tidy at all times. - Responsible for highlighting low stock levels of key stores items and spares - Full participation and on-time completion of individual and group projects. - Actively identify and pursue business improvements such as: BIQ projects, continuous improvements, OEE improvements, cost savings, HSE improvements, etc. - Responsible for care of, security, and good organisation of technical documentation, and shared tools and equipment. - Assist with other activities not directly connected to mould tool maintenance such as BIQ improvements, machine moves, HSE improvements, etc. - Meet and exceed all departmental targets (HSE, Performance, CORIM, etc.) - You are expected to discuss holiday requirements with your fellow colleagues before making a formal request. The minimum requirement is for 1 engineer to be onsite at all times during normal business hours. - Be available for a reasonable amount of overtime to support business needs. - It is your responsibility to follow departmental procedures at all times. - Support and participate in business improvement teams such as HSE committee, People for People, etc. - You are expected to provide a professional service to internal and external customers at all times. - You will be responsible for the upkeep and security of any tools or equipment issued to you by the company. - Maintain high personal standards of workmanship and demonstrate pride in your work. - Work closely with the other members within the department to ensure a through and comprehensive shift handover. This is to include a 'go-see', face to face discussion, and use of accurate record keeping on CORIM.
