This is a fantastic time for an experienced Front End Web Developer to join a leading gifts business during a period of rapid online growth across all digital channels. The role is based in our Harpenden office in Hertfordshire, just next to the station, which is less than 30mins commute from central London.

Enjoy a unique opportunity to really help strengthen and influence the development of the our existing gift websites as well as the opportunity to help shape a new exciting website which is currently in the pipeline. In this small in-house team you can expect to make a significant contribution and have a major impact on the web presence of a major provider of our leading gift websites.

Key Responsibilities

Create engaging web page layouts in line with branding guidelines and responsible for continual improvements to our site UI / UX to ensure that we maximise revenue

Responsible for driving the direction of the look and feel of the websites

Responsible for continual improvements to our site designs and front end functionality to ensure that we maximise sales opportunities.

Ensure all page templates are fully tested cross device with particular emphasis on the customer’s mobile journey

Work with our Head of Web Development to suggest key improvements and A/B test these to measure the impact.

Essential Skills and Experience

Knowledgeable on best practise for UI / UX development

Strong experience with HTML / CSS to build visually appealing and easy to use web pages

Highly skilled with JavaScript / JQuery / JSON

Has demonstrable web design skills with a strong portfolio

Experience working with Responsive design frameworks (especially Bootstrap)

Good front end design skills and attention to detail

Fully aware of cross browser and cross device testing

Experience working with Google Experiments / Optimise

Level of commercial awareness, understanding the key drivers of sales

An awareness and interest in industry trends

Inquisitiveness: constantly willing to learn new skills and take the lead on implementing latest technologies

Great organisational and time management skills being able to manage conflicting priorities

Educated to degree level with at least 2 year's commercial experience

The following skills would be advantageous:

Previous ecommerce experience

Experience of working with version control software

Knowledge of front end technologies working alongside .NET code

Familiarity with WordPress / WooCommerce platform
