Overview Renishaw's Machine Tool Products Division is currently seeking a PC Software Applications Engineer. The primary role is to provide installation, application and training support to our Subsidiary's, Oems and Endusers on our range of Machine Tool Scanning Probe hardware and software products. The position will focus on a variety of markets such as the Far East, Europe and the US, so therefore occasional foreign travel will be expected. Also as part of a team of engineers there is the requirement to support in-house testing of new technology as well as help develop custom application solutions. Responsibilities - Support the development and roll-out of specific customer projects performing advanced measurement tasks using CNC machines in manufacturing organisations - Work closely with the software development organisation to provide feedback on customer requirements - Contribute to Renishaw's knowledge of on-machine process control applications through involvement in an ongoing test programme Key requirements - Proven experience in the use and programming of CNC controllers such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak or Okuma - Knowledge of CNC macro language - Confidence with hardware installation of electro-mechanical hardware on controls - A high level of computer literacy, including a good understanding of Microsoft Office products - A full UK driving Licence - A full and valid Passport Desirable requirements - Experience of working on turn-key or manufacturing cell applications (e.g. multi process communication) - Understanding of metal-cutting processes and or other volume manufacturing processes - Experience of working and presenting a technical discipline on customer sites - Confident with CAD/CAM system usage eg. Siemens NX Person specification As the successful applicant you will be able to work independently but also comfortable in a team environment. Because of the complex nature of the product, you must be able to forge close working relationships with experts from a wide diversity of backgrounds, to both learn and share their own experiences. The work itself will be very varied and will range from development testing tasks at our headquarters, to specific customer visits with fixed timetables.
