Ammunition Accountant

£20,752 per annum

Sitting within a beautiful and secure site, the Defence Academy hosts 2 lakes and is surrounded by acres of scenic woodland. The Academy trains the future commanders and staff officers of all three UK Armed Services and those from many countries around the world.

We are currently recruiting an Ammunition Accountant who will be responsible for providing an efficient service for the receipt, issue and custody of ammunition natures for Defence Academy Units, both on the Shrivenham Campus and DTUS Squadrons based at Birmingham, Newcastle, Southampton and Loughborough.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain the ammunition account and ensure strict compliance with ammunition storage regulations in accordance with JSP 482 – MOD Explosives Regulations.

Coordinate the receipt, issue, control and accounting of all ammunition natures.
Application of approved accounting procedures for the Ammunition Account.
Maintain ammunition account transactions on Management of Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI).
Ensure that at all times the ammunition and explosives holdings are free from any existing bans and constraints.
Ensure that specialist inspection reports are extant.
Collection and return of ammunition/explosive natures from/to the Ammunition Depot Kineton.
Deputise for Service Families Accomodation Supervisor during periods of leave/sickness. Assist with SFA transactions during the hectic period of SFA activity during the months of July and August.
Provide cover, as required, in the Clothing Stores.

  • Military Stores - desirable

IT proficient – Basic level of MS Office Products.
Customer focused
Full UK Driving Licence
Able to work individually as well as part of a team.
Good organisational skills
Ability to prioritise
Flexible work ethic.
Good Communication Skills

Specific Requirements

This job is offered subject to successfully obtaining SC Clearance. You must hold a British Passport or be eligible to hold one and have resided in the UK continuously for the last 5 years.
