An exciting opportunity will become available between October and December 17 as Aircraft Engineering Manager for the Command Support Air Transport Future Support Solution contract. This will entail overseeing the aircraft maintenance for 32(The Royal) Squadron’s fleet of BAe146s based at RAF Northolt.

The role is high profile and rewarding. You will be supporting a task which is dynamic and prestigious. Working closely with our RAF colleagues as part of Team Northolt.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  1. Level J Engineering Authorisation holder with limited Level K to cover absence periods

Managing a team of aircraft technicians, aircraft ground engineers and others.
Meeting challenging availability targets.
Supporting worldwide operation and recovery of aircraft 24/7.
Managing the readiness of a team of Sponsored Reservists who have a commitment to deploy worldwide.
Supporting the transformational change that will be required as part of the Future Support Solution contract.
Ensuring the maintenance of engineering standards, practices, procedures and aircraft husbandry as directed by the Contract, RAF regulations and Company Procedures.
Promoting ‘Quality’, ‘Continuous Improvement’ and ‘Professionalism’ as the keystones underpinning all activities conducted within his area of responsibility.


To fulfil the requirements of these TORs you will require all, or most of, the competencies listed below.

  1. Experience of managing first line aircraft engineering at Level J or higher.

Detailed appreciation of how to maximise aircraft availability.
Working knowledge and experience of RAF Engineering Policy.
Working knowledge RAF aircraft documentation.
Thorough understanding of Airworthiness policy.
Working knowledge of Explosive Safety Regulations.
Qualification and experience managing Quality Assurance.
Thorough understanding of human factors in aircraft maintenance.
Experience of occurrence investigations.
Highly computer literate.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
