We have a new exciting opportunity at Saga Group for a Systems Consultant to join our team in Middelburg Square, Folkestone. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and will receive a competitive salary. About the Systems Consultant role: In this role you will work as part of a team, in an Agile environment, on a variety of projects and support tasks within our Insurance Application's Data Management area. This will involve day to day involvement in the Data Management Team's Agile activities, including daily updates, planning and task/acceptance criteria definition. This role requires you to have a solid IT foundation to independently manage their allocated tasks from inception to release. This role also requires a proactive person who is adaptable and able to effectively communicate their ideas and recommendations. Key responsibilities as our Systems Consultant: - Development of new and maintenance of existing data query/extract scripts/processes (SQL) - Ownership of developments/tasks - Provision of accurate estimates for fixes/enhancements requested by the business - Thorough unit/system testing - Provide regular and accurate progress reports to Team/Manager - The ability to communicate ideas and technical concepts clearly in plain English - Ensure that appropriate levels of documentation are in place Experience and skills required of our Systems Consultant: - Proven and demonstrable skills in the following development and database technologies Oracle, SQL queries, Linux/Unix (including shell scripting) - Good standard of secondary education (including GCSE Maths and English or equivalent) - An ability to work in accordance with company brand values, coding standards, security, accessibility and usability - Troubleshooting, i.e. investigation and resolution of problems reported by users - Undertaking analysis in order to establish requirements - Ensure up to date knowledge of the business in order to advise users how to get the best out of the system, thereby avoiding unnecessary effort where possible - Recognised IT qualifications would be an advantage - Good analytical, systems design and technical skills - An ability to self-manage personal workload to ensure task are completed to time / budget So if you would like to join our team as our new Systems Consultant then please click 'apply' today, we'd love to hear from you!
